Needles part 27: The Most Powerful Weapon

In fiction, characters are always brought up to be; Imaginary. But have you ever though of existence? Only in books, the most powerful language of all, writings. 1 paper can declare war, 1 signature can sentence millions to death, and 1 book can influence millions.

I
“Books.” I said simply, unbelieving. The clerk lady nodded, adjusting her glasses to not shine as much from the lantern above her.

“That is how the last war started.” She said simply, nodding. I looked to my left to see Kitto about to crack up laughing from the ridiculous sound of it all, and Sexili in disbelief.

“Are you meaning to say... A person writings made people kill each other?” Sexili asked.

“A civil war, it was a book about a civil war about the book that he wrote about, some believed in prophetic, I personally examine it as a weapon; Like one passage:

‘Thy annulet on thy finger, tug me high til I linger. Sing me a tale, of witch and ale, and bring me a cup of holy brew.  I write a book, thy tugs a hook on thy fish, until the civility of war begin.’”

I stared at her, admiring her ability to do that without a book in front of her. “Nice poem.” I said, getting dirty looks from Sexili and her.

“It’s not just a poem.” She said simply, “It is the most powerful weapon.” Kitto shook her head no.

“The most powerful weapon is Sickness.” Kitto said simply, “Books can cause fights, sickness ends them and destroys everything in it’s path to do so.” The clerk lady stared down at her.

“I am supposed to grant entry to the city; now go in.” She said simply.

“I don’t think I will.” Sexili said simply, “I don’t want to see more foolish wars.” He walked off, me and Kitto slowly followed.

“It’s not foolish..” I heard the woman say behind us, but only after a few minutes we heard gunfights and screaming from where she was.

II
When we arrived at another city about a mile away the clerk at the stall stared at us in disbelief. “Did you come from our war partners on the other side of our country?” The man asked. I shook my head yes.

“Yes, But we have no beliefs on it.” Sexili said, I kept quiet. Kitto nodded approvingly.

“No beliefs!? This book has the end of the world written on it! It is a prophecy, not a weapon to cause wars! It’s holy!” The man said looking up to the sky. “Like on one part of it:

‘The star-crossed lovers, bent and burn. The night brings welcome, and thy to learn. Thy end is nearer than the melancholy ocean, peeling at your flesh slowly with salt of thee million grains of sand, trickling through your hand.’”

I stared at this man as well, these people cherish this book.

“Who wrote it?” Sexili asked staring up at him, his cheeks grew red.

“Some man... Named Ryuune... Years ago, a big Epic.” I stared at him incrediously, Ryuune... The destroyer of GgI... I wonder if that kid in the audience, from that city... I wonder will I meet him?
